Breathe Carolina

Breathe Carolina is an American electronic music duo from Denver, Colorado, consisting of David Schmitt and Tommy Cooperman. Formed in 2007, the duo began as a high-energy blend of electronic, rock, and emo influences, quickly gaining attention for their distinctive genre fusion and dynamic live performances. Their early work combined electronic beats, heavy synths, and screamed vocals, appealing to a diverse audience and leading to their debut album It’s Classy, Not Classic (2008), which featured the breakout track “The Birds and The Bees.” They continued building momentum with Hello Fascination (2009) and Hell Is What You Make It (2011), the latter including the platinum-certified single “Blackout.” As their career progressed, Breathe Carolina evolved toward a more electronic and dance-focused sound, a shift clearly reflected on their fourth album, Savages (2014), which embraced an EDM-centric style highlighted by tracks like “Savages” and “Chasing Hearts” featuring Tyler Carter. Known for their adaptability and willingness to experiment, the duo has collaborated widely within the EDM community, producing successful singles and remixes while maintaining relevance in an ever-changing genre. Beyond studio releases, Breathe Carolina is celebrated for their energetic live shows that blend DJ sets with live vocals, making them a popular presence at festivals and clubs worldwide. Their journey from a local Denver act to international performers underscores their unique sound, artistic evolution, and perseverance in the music industry.
