Cardiel

CARDIEL is a two-piece rock band originally formed in Mexico City in 2010 by drummer Samantha Ambrosio and guitarist/vocalist Miguel Fraíno. Their style contains elements of skaterock, sludge, and psychedelic dub.
Samantha and Miguel have known each other since the late 1990s in their hometown of Valencia, Venezuela. However, it wasn’t until they moved to Mexico that they began making music for skateboarding videos. After this experience, in 2010, they decided to consolidate the project and officially name the band CARDIEL.
In the band’s early years, they played numerous skateboard-related shows and contests across different cities in Mexico. In 2011, they performed at several screenings of the documentary Piel Concreto, produced by Vans México and directed by Nito Escalante, which showcases the beginnings and influence of skateboarding in Mexico.
They were also part of the “Pacifico Tour” organized by the skateboarding company Puro Gallo, where they played at classic skate and surf spots along the Mexican Pacific Coast, promoting and spreading skateboarding culture.
In 2017, the band was invited to participate in Thrasher Magazine’s iconic “Skate Rock” tour in Mexico. The tour featured a crew of more than 30 people, including professional skateboarders, filmers, photographers, and bands, led by Thrasher Magazine Editor-in-Chief Jake Phelps.
Additionally, CARDIEL has performed at notable events such as the 30th Anniversary of Thrasher Magazine (2012, Mexico), Big Trouble in Little 5 Points (2023, Atlanta, GA), and Brixton 50W Baja (2024, Costa Mesa, CA).
