MOD SUN

With a career spanning over a decade, very few musicians have accomplished what Minnesota native, MOD SUN has. With the release of five albums, three EPs, six mixtapes and more than 100 songs, he has amassed global recognition and widespread industry respect. MOD SUN, which stands for “Movement on Dreams, Stand Under None,” started out as a drummer for two popular rock bands, Four Letter Lie and Scary Kids Scaring Kids. After several years of national and overseas touring, he decided to step out from behind the drums to pursue a solo career. Within his first year, he landed a spot in Rolling Stone’s coveted national cover contest, “Do You Wanna Be A Rock & Roll Star?,” where he was a semifinalist.
In 2015, MOD released his debut album, Look Up, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. Since his debut, the singer, songwriter and producer has transcended to a chart-topping alternative artist who is known for his use of deeply personal lyrics to tell relatable stories about love, loss, addiction and rebirth. Throughout his prolific career, MOD has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Machine Gun Kelly, Avril Lavigne, Lil Wayne, blackbear, Steve Aoki, G-Eazy, Nipsey Hussle, John Feldmann, Schoolboy Q and Travis Barker.
The multifaceted artist is also an accomplished writer and producer, co-writing Machine Gun Kelly’s platinum-selling single, “Bloody Valentine,” which debuted at No. 1, spent over a year on the Billboard charts and won the 2020 VMA for “Best Alternative.” MOD also co-wrote the gold-certified song “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)” by K-pop powerhouses, Tomorrow X Together, which Billboard ranked No. 1 on their “25 Best K-pop Songs of 2021” and he wrote and produced a majority of the songs on Avril Lavigne’s chart-topping Platinum album, Love Sux, which debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales, Top Rock Album and Top Alternative Album charts. In 2025, MOD landed two massive song placements including producing “Alone In The Studio With My Gun” on Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter VI and writing and producing “Treading Water” from Machine Gun Kelly’s Lost Americana album.
MOD SUN’s breakthrough album, Internet Killed The Rockstar, was released in 2021 via Big Noise to critical acclaim including GQ Italia declaring him “one of the most revolutionary and original artists in the American record scene.” The album premiered at No. 8 on Spotify’s Top Global Album Debuts, No. 21 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and includes the hit single, “Flames,” featuring Avril Lavigne, which landed MOD his first song in the top 20 on alternative radio. To date, the album has amassed over 300 million streams. In the past year, MOD has had two songs charting on alternative radio simultaneously, with his single “Hotel Lights” spending much of the end of 2024 within the top 20, while his song with HonestAv, “I’d Rather Overdose,” peaked at 21. With a rock album coming in 2026 that he calls “the best work of his career”, there are no signs of slowing down for boundary-pushing artist, MOD SUN.
